BESTIES: MY TOP FIVE CURRENT OBSESSIONS

"Corpus Christi" is my first theatrical production in almost ten years. After performing in a slew of shows around Syracuse and a couple of tours I decided to move to Sarasota, FL and go to art school. Between the demands of art school and working full time, I never found time to do any shows while in Florida and the love of it slowly faded away. I was recently invited to be a part of "Corpus Christi" and I cant tell you how happy I am to be doing it. The cast of 13, all men, is extroardinary and it is nice to reconnect with some old friends and meet so many new ones. It is a very controversial retelling of the story of Jesus, set in 1950's Texas. I am a little nervous about how the audiences will accept the story, but we are in good hands with an intelligent director. Oh, and I will be giving birth to the son of God. Go HERE for ticket info or you can call Rarely Done Productions at 546-3224.

Old movie musicals. This song in particular "young and Healthy" Ive been singing for days. How much can I say about this without sounding too gay? probably not a lot. I hope Dick Powell directs the shows in Heavens community theater!

This mirror. Well, not this EXACT mirror but one very similar. The original Im looking for was first created by BOX Furniture boutique in Sarasota, FL. My dear friend Rob, who has since passed away, worked there and had one of these mirrors in his apt and I was always in awe at its beauty. Later, when I worked for JKL Design group we would use a similar mirror in model apartments we designed, and I cannot remember where we got it from. It was about $200 bucks. The BOX Furniture original is much more expensive but far superior in quality and esthetics. It is my lifes mission to get a hold of one of these mirrors, not only because they're so grand but for sentimental reasons. If anyone can help me with this search, id be in debt to you forever.

Greek yogurt. YOWZERS! Im completely obsessed, I eat one every day, always vanilla, sometimes with granola. It is fat free, low in calories, and made with very simple organic ingredients. Give it a try.

My secret crush! Don't you just love admiring someone from afar? I do. (no stalker) Not just because of how they look, but because you know they are an awesome human being. SWOON!

Me & Goji & Me

This is a pic of me after finishing my first bowl of my $10 custom gourmet cereal....and its worth every penny (and I need some serious Botox)
My wordly and extremely hip friend Jorge turned me on to this internet company that creates a custom cereal for you using fresh, organic ingredients including granola, muesli, dried fruits, nuts, all kinds of crunchy goodies, even chocolate!!!
You just go to the website HERE and you can create your own DELICIOUS custom cereal, you can name your creation for easy reordering and even put a picture of your choice on the super cool "tube" it is packaged in.
Depending on what you put in your cereal the prices vary. For my creation I started with a mulitgrain artisanal cereal then added pumpkin seeds, raspberries, Goji berries, Multigrain O's and cinnamon. After $3.99 for shipping it came to $14.00 and arrived in less than a week.
You can create a cereal for someone as a gift or you can also buy an online giftcard and send it to someone you love!
The handsome blokes below are the guys that started the company. Uhh, GOLDMINE much?

CHEESE OF THE WEEK Y'ALL!

Gorgonzola Dolce

Meaning "sweet" in Italian, Gorgonzola "Dolce" was developed sometime after World War II in response to the demand for a milder blue cheese.

The production process is almost identical to Gorgonzola Naturale, and both styles must be made according to the DOP (name protection) regulations. Cow's milk for production must come from one of the designated provinces in Piedmont or Lombardy, and the cheese must also be made within that area. About 60 dairies, ranging from small family operations to giant industrial concerns, produce Gorgonzola.

Gorgonzola Dolce matures for about two months, whereas Gorgonzola Naturale is aged for at least three months and often longer. For both styles, milk is inoculated with penicillin spores to induce blue veining, but the Dolce requires a less intense penicillin culture.
The interior paste of Gorgonzola Dolce is ivory-white in color with subtle blue-green veins that are widely spaced. Flavors are millky and unctuous, with notes of sour cream and butter and a clean, lactic tang. Flavors are not nearly as assertive as in Gorgonzola Naturale.
(from culturecheesemag.com)

Gorgonzola Dolce pairs well with champagne and full-bodied, sweet reds.

Blue cheeses are my absolute FAVE!!!! Gorgonzola Dolce is so scrumptious, let it get to room temperature and it will soften up enough that you can spread it like a cream cheese on a cracker or baguette. Top with a drizzle of balsamic glaze and BAM you have heaven on a well,...cracker.

Hometown boy makes good....Art!

Take a moment and watch the following animation done by Jess Marley, handsome son of my friend, Tamaralee Shutt; and fellow graduate of The Ringling College of Art and Design.
Though I studied Interior Design while Jess majored in Computer animation, I know how many hours and how much sweat and tears goes into making a two minute video.
This was his senior thesis which won him The Presidents List award. He now has a dream job with an animation studio in California. Awesome Awesome Awesome.

CHEESE OF THE WEEK Y'ALL!

MIMOLETTE

Mimolette is a cheese traditionally produced around the city of Lille, France (where it is also known as Boule de Lille), and also in some areas of Belgium and the Netherlands, such as Flanders (where it is also known as vieux Hollande).
It was originally made by the request of Louis XIV, who wanted a French cheese to resemble Edam. In order to differentiate it from Edam, however, he had it colored orange.
A cow's-milk cheese, it normally weighs about 2 kg (approximately 4.5 pounds). Its name comes from the French word molle, meaning "soft". This refers to the softness of the crust when young - with age it becomes harder. It has a gray crust and orangish flesh. The orange color comes from the natural colorant, annatto. The cheese has a similar appearance, at first glance, to a cantaloupe.
The greyish crust of aged Mimolette is the result of cheese mites intentionally introduced to add flavor by their action on the surface of the cheese.
Mimolette can be consumed at different stages of aging. When younger, its taste resembles that of Parmesan. Most cheese-lovers appreciate it most when "extra-old" (extra-vieille). At that point, it can become rather hard to chew, and the flesh takes a hazelnut-like flavour. (from Wikipedia)

Impress your friends at parties with this little known fact. Milmolette is aged with the help of cheese mites...yes...mites! Little microscopic buggies that actually look like dust, burrow their way through the rind and help the cheese age.
Stop by Weggies and take a look at the cheese "deathstar", and have a taste!

Do it yourself...

PENDANT LIGHTING FIXTURE.

I am preparing to make my first pendant light, something that would hang over a dining room table, and Ive been filling myself to the brim with creative inspiration. Making the light is fairly easy, a lighting kit can be found at most hardware stores, the challenge is making it creative as well as gorgeous as well as simple, all while telling myself: "less is more Vinnie, less is more."

Kitchen Table Confessions

I am currently UBER OBSESSED with this song. My nephew posted a DJ AM remix version recently on FB and ever since Ive been hooked. This song brings me back to the days of playing with my He-men and not having a care in the world besides what video was coming up next on MTV and what flavor Kool-Aid mom was making for lunch.
This video is an 80's smorgasbor-ganza! Keep an eye out for a side pony-tail, feathered hair, doubled up socks, cheez wiz special effects. But, all that a aside, the song kills.
