Theres so many to choose from, am i right? But these 5 are my top favorite.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Holy schnitzel! Im pretty sure my jaw was on the theatre floor during the opening number of this movie. Its one of Disney's most underrated, but one of my absolute favorites. The storyline is so inspiring and I love the character of the gypsy-minstrel, Clopin. The note he hits at the end of the opening song is incredi-friggin-awesome.
Mary Poppins
I know, I know...but this movie is a classic and ever since I was a little Vinnie, Ive always gotten choked up when the family goes and flys their kites at the end. Its movie magic, people.
Pocahontas
Say what you will, but this is one of my favorite Disney movies ever. Its a tad on the serious side; but the music, animation, story and ending are on point. When Poca runs to the top of the rock and and waves "I love you" to John Smith, I just die. And, her hair blowing in her face all gorgeous and shit! Man, it just makes you wanna be an indian princess, dont it? no?
Hercules
This movie killed for five reasons: The Muses. These sassy, soulful characters, with voice talents from some incredible broadway divas, were a long overdue addition to a Disney film. Again, I love their hair. I wish I had a Hercules coloring book.
The Lion King
The opening is a given, its probably the best opening in Disney history. But, the ending was also pretty rad-i-cal. I saw this movie about 6 times in the theatre, I had just come back home from working at Disney and I was still under their spell. But still, anyone who doesnt like this movie is a straight-up asshole.
The kids and I just watched Mary Poppins over the weekend and the fact that they loved it made me so so happy. I too tear up at that song and pretty much every other one as well.
ReplyDeleteI love it. It was always a thanksgiving tradition for us as kids. It was always on. Julie Andrews is a supreme being on this earth.
